So, from what I can tell, Kidney stone analysis costs around $560, but really seems to be happening is that hospitals are just charging huge amounts of money, as with a lot of things in hospitals, in order to subsidize other services for non-paying patients (in the USA).
I found a couple Indian companies which offer analysis, and emailed them. Then I found this article:
https://kidneystones.uchicago.edu/analyse-every-kidney-stsone/
Which points to this lab in MO.
http://www.herringlab.com/faq1.html#COST
Which appears to have a weird website...but maybe they are legit?
Has anyone had any experience circumventing the normal medical system in order to pay 10X less in expenses? I figure kidney stones are non-lethal, so it's not a huge risk if I send them out and end up loose everything, and yet it's a good idea to get them analyzed to check for risk factors, yet I don't want to be an idiot and hand over my hard earned money.
Any thoughts?
