My parents currently pay for my rent and tuition and because of this they make me live with people from their Church who will snitch on me if I be myself basically. I won't go too deep into it. I have 2.5 yrs left in college, I have worked the same part time job for 4 years, and I'm going to ask for a raise soon, which I never have.
My finances are as follows:
Monthly pay after tax: $840 Food expenses: 100-200/mo Gas: ~$80/mo
The rest is money here and there for general household needs or treating myself every now and then. That's pretty much it right now. If I want to pick up all my expenses my parents pay it will be:
Car insurance: 120/mo Gas: ~80/mo Food: $100-200/mo Rent + Utilities: $425/mo Textbooks: ~600/yr Tuition: 7k/yr
And then obviously other random expenses we all have. If I get the raise I want, which I think I will because I've worked here for 4 years without a raise and the company is doing very well, I'll make $1300/mo after tax.
Is this doable? I'd be happy to live very frugally to get away from my parents but it's important that I finish college to get the career I want, especially since I'm past halfway done. I don't know if I can spend any more years with my family. I'd only have ~5700 a year of leftover money after my expenses and I'd obviously want to spend some of that on dates and other fun things. I'll have to pay $14k of college tuition and a student loan seems like a good option for me. I'm just trying to decide what to do, any advice, or any stories from anyone who has been in a similar position would be great!
Edit: I already have a 425/mo lease for an apartment with 3 other roommates. It's all inclusive on utilities as well.
