Long story short, my parents hacked into my bank account and added my mother as a joint account owner. I am 24 and have not shared a bank account or credit card with them since I turned 18. They do not pay any of my bills or gift me money, fwiw. For many reasons that I don't need to get into here, I have slowly been working towards no contact with them, and I think the lack of control is making them go even more crazy. Since discovering they hacked my bank account and added my mom as a joint account holder (because they called in a rage to question me about transactions on my statement), I have opened a new account at a new bank and transferred all my money over, but I'm wondering how to prevent this from happening in the future. Obviously, my parents know my SSN, DOB, every address I've lived at, basically all of my personal information. Is there any way to prevent this from happening in the future other than getting a new SSN? Some sort of 2FA for any time my social security number is used for anything? I'd rather not deal with the police if there is another way to make this happen. I just want to secure my accounts and move on without family members harassing me over how I could call the police on my parents. Thanks everyone.
