I recently ripped up some carpet and found hardwood floors underneath. They are mostly in pretty good condition. There are just 3-4 noticeable problem areas. The worst spot is presumably where a radiator used to be. The other spots are mostly paint splatters. I have started sanding down the radiator spot. Still some work to go, but it's looking a lot better. My question is: Should I A) refinish just the aforementioned problem spots, B) do the entire floor, sanding down to bare wood using 3 different grits of sandpaper, or C) 'screen' the floor.... do the entire floor, but don't sand all the way down to bare wood, just enough to rough it up a bit and apply new poly? I'm assuming B is the best choice, however it's a tremendous amount of work. Note: The wood does not have a stain on it. And I'm using water-based poly. Can I save time by doing a screen and coat? Or are my floors too far past that point? via /r/DIY https://ift.tt/2VEz3mB
