Hi friends!
Currently I drive a 2010 Nissan Versa, I bought it 2 1/2 years ago and it has not given me any bit mechanical problems. I've just had to do the expected maintenance. However, I drive a ton, I bought it with 67,000 miles on it and I currently have 129,000 on it. I have about $980 left on it until it's paid off, paying $175 a month.
Before my little Nissan, I had two cars that were terrible. Not only did I have a car payment on them, but I was fixing them constantly, and I was draining every little penny I had. It was impossible to save.
At this point in my life, I don't have a savings. Life sucks, situations came up where I had to spend the little amount of money I had, and now I'm here. I've heard horror stories about my car's transmission, and how they are notorious give out. I don't know if I should look for a vehicle now and see if I can find something on a car lot or if I should ride this out and see if I can make it without a car payment. (Im just terrified that my car's going to give out and be in a shitty position)
My mom told me to not worry about it, I'm making problems for myself. (But she is also notorious for spending every penny my dad has ever made) My father said I should start looking now, see how much a dealership would give me for my vehicle, and if that would cover my car payment and down payment for car.
Or should I just ride it out entirety, when the transmission goes just replace it and keep at it? I drive everyday for my job, I'd just like to have something safe as well, but also make a financially smart decision.
