Title is straightforward - just curious how my recurring expenses compare to others. Obviously context is super important, which I'll include mine below. If there are some other expenses that you guys would be interested in comparing, I can edit my post and add in later.
Household size: 2 (wife and I are both late 20's)
Location: Southern California
Expenses:
- Car insurance (2 cars 2 drivers): $130/month (we pay 6 months at a time, use Geico)
- Rent: $2000/month (3 bedroom, 1600 sq ft town house)
- Gym Membership: $27/month per person (24 hr fitness super sport - we buy 2 years in advance at Costco).
- Renter's insurance: $7.59/month (we use Lemonade)
- TV: $40/month (YoutubeTV)
- Internet: $45/month (100 mbps, Spectrum)
- Avg expense for food (incl. grocery shopping, restaurants, snacks, etc): $900/month
- Total average expenses per month: ~$4600
Feel free to share all or some of the same expenses I did - just curious how we compare to others. Obviously location, household size, etc has a major impact, which is why I called it out at the beginning.
EDIT: I'll mention this again - the point of my post wasnt necessarily to ask for critiques - I'm just curious how much others are spending in similar categories, while taking it all in the correct context (e.g. $2000 per month is a really good deal for rent in my area, but we could get a large house for that amount in other areas of the country/world).
