This is a dilemma I can never come to a conclusion on. I think unless I already have enough money saved up to afford my car getting totalled, I should have collision and comprehensive coverage.. simply because if I dont have either the money to pay for it myself or insurance to pay for it I'm plain screwed. HOWEVER, it will be extremely hard for me to ever save up the money to afford it myself when I am paying a 200 bill each month for insurance when I could be saving that to afford an accident myself... so paying for full coverage might entail me taking years to save the money up myself so I dont have to pay for full coverage. I have been driving for 2 years, no accidents, and I'm a 19 year old female, so I dont think 210 a month is bad for full coverage. I also am currently driving a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee v8, so another question!

Mechanical breakdown insurance seems pretty new to the markets, but it's way more likely the cars I buy are going to have a mechanical failure than get crashed. I know the true frugal option here is to buy something like a corolla, however I live in NH with shitty winters and my driveway is a 45 degree incline that curves, with a cliff off the side of it. I need something with power and AWD/4WD just to get in my driveway in winter or I'll get hit by plows. Anyways, is it too good to be true? The thought of owning a 2000s jeep without shelling out about 600 a month for repairs on average sounds amazing.. I cant afford another car for quite a while.
