Apartment renters of Reddit, how much do you pay per month for your area and what items/services do you only have to keep costs low?

I am moving to Northern Virginia and rent will cost $1,370 per month without utilities. The complex also wants $50 per vehicle per month on top of rent (putting the cost to $1,470 because my fiance and I have our own vehicle). It will take a few months to start up with our new jobs in Washington D.C. so we need advice on how to live conservatively.

Edit: I forgot to mention, this would be a one bedroom apartment
