Just read the first part of Notes from Underground, and I found this passage interesting with regard to the principles of simple living here in this sub. It's an interesting perspective, that all that the striving of society manages to garner is wealth of variety of sensation. Axe-throwing, bowling, golfing, comedy clubs, dance clubs, bars, restaurants, courts, jails, rock climbing, boardgame cafes, etc. Not sure I exactly agree with it, but not sure I don't, either. Thoughts?
