Winters are very cold where I live. I like to turn the heat down low at night. My husband and I are both home all day, so I turn it up again in the morning. It can take 2+ hours to heat up. We also have multiple fish tanks with heaters and a tortoise enclosure with a heater on a thermostat. Our furnace is gas, all the other stuff is electric. Electric is more expensive for us. My husband is concerned that I might actually be costing us more money by turning the heat down so low at night because then the furnace has to work so hard in the morning and the fish and tortoise heaters probably need to turn on more too. I think he's probably right, but I feel so weird not turning down the heat at night! Would you keep it a bit warmer at night in that scenario?
