I've been using a menstrual cup for about 3 years now, and it's probably safe to say I've gotten past the learning curve and can see it's pros and cons. The pros outweigh the cons, in my opinion, and I think every frugal woman should give it a try. I've not had to purchase any disposal products at all, except for maybe 3 boxes of pantiliners. My only costs were the initial cost of the cup (I think it was $30?), a bottle of special soap ($10?) for everyday cleaning of the cup, and a new cooking pot which I use exclusively for boiling my cup to sanitize it before using it for that month's period.
At the risk of giving TMI for you all, I won't expand on all the pros, cons, techniques for proper usage and care, etc, but I'm happy to answer if anyone has any specific questions about my personal experience.
I hope this inspires someone to give it a try! Your pocketbook and the landfills will thank you.
