I made a kids toybox over the weekend. I was able to make it using most of a sheet of plywood, a 1x12, a Lauan backing board, and some trim. The only thing I had to go out to purchase was the paint.Finished productAll assembled, ready for paintThe top shelve is 12"x12". I don't have many other progress pics because we set the angle for the box opening on the fly. The base is 15" deep, it is 30" tall to fit under the windows where we were mounting it. We took a template of the 1x12 and set it on the plywood to find an angle that looked appealing, then used that as a template for both sides and the middle divider. Staple and glue to fasten everything.PiecesBottom - 15" x 48"Top: 12" x 48"Shelf: 12" x 47"Lauan back: 30" x 48"Front: 1" x 12" x 48"Sides: We knew we wanted a 10" opening, and a 12" shelf, so we measured down 12" from the top, and with the 1 x 12 from the bottom we played with the angle. I believe it was around 65 degrees, and the total depth of the bins is about 19". We were able to puzzle all the pieces on a 4' x 8' sheet of 1/2" plywood with plenty of extra. Even cut around some bad spots since it was a recycled sheet. Create 2 sides and the divider is the same as the sides minus the 12" rise where the book shelf is. via /r/DIY http://bit.ly/2GA1v5M
