So I just received my electricity bill for the last two months, and it was so high, I actually had to sit down as my heart was racing.
To put things in perspective:
- August + September: 1492 KW a month, 24 KW a day
-
October + November: 4059 KW a month, 65 KW a day
-
December + January: 7898 KW a month, 120 KW a day
I honestly do not understand how the KW a month almost doubled.
Only things electrically I bought new was a PlayStation 4, a energy efficient portable heater and a 500W bulb to replace a 200W bulb that broke.
I understand that costs would go up in the winter, but by almost DOUBLE?
8 months ago I:
- Bought energy efficient light bulbs,
- Use washer and dryer once a week in cold water/low temperature.
- Use smart power strips that automatically turn off after a certain amount of time.
- Only use dish washer once a week
What more can I do to save costs. (particularly in the winter)
Any help would be very appreciated
(I think I need to stop looking at that bill as its getting me so down).
