I have some existing basement waterproofing that isnt doing its job very well. It was installed by the previous owner and only covers about 70% of the perimeter of the basement. There is 2 rooms of the basement; a living space w/ laundry area and furnace, and a single car garage that is being used as a woodshop. The garage houses the sump that pumps the water out into the yard. The living space however, leaks water in heavy rain. In the living space, there is an unknown PVC pipe that heads straight into the concrete (no power cord or anything, just pvc). It is completely sealed and I have no idea what it is. I have traced the pipe and it goes into the garage, into the finished ceiling, and heads towards the garage door. I am not sure if it exits the house at the front wall. I am thinking this may be a secondary sump pit and the interior french drains of the living area and garage or 2 "separate" systems. My main question is, what else could this random pipe be? Also, is it typical for a waterproofing company to NOT do the ENTIRE perimeter of the basement??? Are sumps in living areas typically sealed?I do not believe that it's a radon system because there are no signs of it venting anywhere that I can see. I've never heard anything "run" through the pipe either since we have lived here. I am thinking that it is a secondary sump pit and the pump is bad, therefore allowing water to leak into the basement.Edit: house was built in the 50's, and it is believed that the waterproofing was installed in the 80's via /r/DIY http://bit.ly/2S3X9tQ
