I was recently convinced that my boss emailed me to go pick up ten $100 GooglePlay ($1000 worth) gift cards and send him the codes.
I realized it was not my boss until immediately after I bought the gift cards, but thankfully before I actually sent the codes.
I tried calling my credit card company and the store I bought the gift cards and they both said absolutely no refunds on gift cards.
All of the gift card buying/exchange websites offer really low return rates for their actual value. I also considered donating the gift cards to a charity that can actually use them, plus I could write it off in my taxes. Any suggestions or advice?
Before I get ridiculed for falling for a such a stupid scam, I want to point out that in my line of work, it is not unusual for my boss to make such a request. We are constantly donating prizes to golf tournaments or other events, and he would email me something similar to that effect.
