I’m renovating my bathroom right now. Whoever did the job last time had put a water resistant backer-board over drywall. Mold had gotten into the backerboard and the tiles were falling off. My plan was to just replace the water-resistant backer-board with a water-proof one like kerdi board (my budget is small, so I was hoping for a smaller project). I soon found that most of the moldy backer-board had been secured with not just nails, but a large amount of adhesive. The drywall was ruined by the time I got the backer-board off, so I cut the portion inside the enclosure off with the plan of installing kerdi-board flush with the drywall and tiling across the two surfaces. My concern right now is that the current plumbing won’t be flush with the tile now that I’ve removed that quarter inch layer. Is there a relatively easy fix for this? It’s a townhome and the plumbing for this shower is shared by the one on the other side of the wall. It’s all bunched together pretty tightly (link to imgur picture below).I would very much prefer not to have to mess with any plumbing.https://ift.tt/2BUi7RS via /r/DIY https://ift.tt/2H69WVU
