This is geared toward families. We aren't bare bones minimalists but try to be intentional in our purchases and minimize "stuff". But we have two young kids that seem to constantly come come with little odds and ends from school/parties/playdates. We do regularly purge toys and trinkets but there's still a lot of small stuff.

Having a neat home really helps my state of mind. I feel psychologically better when I'm able to straighten up and keep everything in it's place. However, having young kids, there is a certain amount of mess to be expected and tolerated.

My kids are fairly good at picking up after themselves with prompting and I want them to learn those skills. Everything always gets cleaned up in the evenings. But when they're home and playing I also sometimes find myself pacing around the house straightening up just to make myself feel better.

I'm interested to read if this is a struggle for anyone else and if you've come up with any good strategies for balancing this.
