Hi,

So I'm 25 years old and due to some early on not so great life choices (most od which my parents forced upon me) I had to drop out of middle school to help the family out with bills and money etc, so I ended up never going back and falling extremely far behind academically.

Long story short, i am trying to get my GED and go to maybe community college (and then transfer to a full university after 2 years) soon and also got a full time job at a distribution center a few months ago. I'm basically just an order selector building pallets but it pays $15hr and I get a solid 40hrs+ a week, plus benefits and paid time off. Once incentive comes to our warehouse I should be making around $18-25 an hour though.

But as of right now after all taxes and benefits are paid out of my paycheck, im left with about $2300 a month.

I currently have $2500 in savings and plan on moving out once I have around 5K saved up.

It's really becoming a pain still living with my parents in my mid 20s, they do not let me go out past certain times, it's impossible to even think of bringing a girl over and I still have to contribute almost all (about 95%) of my money towards paying rent and car payments and other miscellaneous bills. I have to jump through all sorts if hoops to put what money I do have into my own savings.

My mother tells me that all money that i make goes to the house.

I'm also torn though because if I do move out i know that will be a big portion of the household income and since my parents barely work, they may go homeless (since we are still renting).

But at the same time this restrictive lifestyle and still sharing a room and bed with my 15 year old brother is extremely depressing and really starting to take a toll on me mentally.

As it is right now my lifestyle is basically just to go to work to pay bills to go home and share a room and bed with my younger sibling.

The cost of living here in Vegas isn't too bad, that's why I was seriously considering taking the plunge in the future.

Any ideas on how much I should have saved up before moving out?

Thanks and sorry about the lengthy post!
