As part of the class of 2019, me and my classmates will be going onto college soon. Our college counselor has decided to take it upon herself to educate us on basic finances: Filing taxes (IRS has a great tax simulation), budgeting (gave us an excel spreadsheet with our income and different types of spending/living expenses like rent, student debt, food, health insurance, etc) and giving us a worksheet that asks what we want to major in, how long we plan to be in school (law, medicine grad school etc), how much student loans we plan to take out, and where we want to live/what future profession do we want to pursue based on those numbers.
Of course this is all nice and dandy, but what should she missing? what is crucial information that she hasn’t told us that a starting college student should really know?
Personal experiences, wisdom and advice are welcome!
