With the government shutdown going on day 17, all employees affected have now officially missed a paycheck. I keep seeing some credit unions offering special loans to assist those affected and options to utilize vacation time to supplement income while being furloughed but this is the exact reason why everyone should have an emergency fund of at least a few months worth if your overall expenses. Life happens and the unplanned and unexpected always come at the worst times but by having an emergency fund, emergencies turn into just an inconvenience.
