In 2016, I had surgery on my foot. I believe I may have paid one copayment for surgery, but that’s all I paid. My insurance paid many of the costs, but as to copayments, deductible and all other charges, I have not paid the doctors’ bills, hospital bills, etc. I received letters from collection companies, and did not pay them. There have been no negative consequences to my credit report.

I am bringing this up now, having read on this subreddit about people dealing with unpaid hospital bills and the negative consequences to their credit. Is it possible that now, three years later, a collection company would inform a credit reporting agency and now, three years later, my credit could suffer? Any advice? How did I (so far) escape negative repercussions, and what may happen at this point? Thank you in advance for your thoughts.
