I poked around some similar threads and found the Tilley hats, which are a tad pricey. Seems to be a case of someone selling a simple thing to an upscale market at a higher-than-reasonable price point. And some military styled or surplussed hats without snaps.

The Practical

Side snap(s) preferred. I have recently found myself too bald to not wear a hat in summer, and need something that can stand up to relatively rough daily use and a fair amount of sweat.

Of course that necessitates frequent washing or rinsing as well, so it would need to hold it's shape though that.

I'm not sure what material is optimal for this use-case, so please feel free to offer your theories or experiences if you feel so inclined.

The ideal hat would meet all listed requirements and cost thirty-five dollars or less.

The aesthetic

Really just one point here, but more difficult to express: I would like the hat to be less cowboy and more desert or jungle-fighter in style. Something with a straighter, moderately stiff brim. The bucket hat style with a completely floppy, slightly conical brim isn't quite what I'm after.

That's all, thanks!
