Hello, everyone.I’ve got damaged tile in my kitchen that my wife hates anyway, so I’m getting ready to pull it up and replace it. We’re going to go with luxury vinyl plank throughout the house. The problem I’m facing is that where the tile is located, there is also a layer of 23/32 ply over the subfloor, which means I’ve got transitions between the kitchen and the rest of the flooring. This does run under the cabinets, etc, so I’m inclined to believe this was done by the builder. Obviously for a unified floor this isn’t kosher, and my wife wants it gone.I do not know if this ply was just screwed down, or if it’s also got adhesive under it. My question is simple: do I try to be gentle and separate this ply from the underlying subfloor, or do I just go ham and cut both pieces off down to the floor joists and lay new subfloor? If precision removal is the best option, what would be the best way to go about that? via /r/DIY http://bit.ly/2TjGKgX
