Ive watched a few videos and read a ton, but nothing seems to be specific enough when I try to research etching stainless steel. I am trying to make groomsmen gifts for my groomsmen, and I purchased some stainless steel flasks that I'm trying to etch. My fiancee has a Cricut and adhesive vinyl sheets that I am using to stencil the design to the flask.I cleaned the flask with rubbing alcohol, attached the vinyl decal/stencil to the flask via transfer paper and rubbing it really well, cleaned the exposed parts with rubbing alcohol again in case I touched it while applying it, then applied the muriatic acid to it. The muriatic acid ate through the glue under the vinyl and started to bleed out underneath the decal in just about 5 minutes.Should I heat up the decal after its stuck to the flask? Should I attach the "negative" decal and put nail polish on the exposed parts to essentially do the same thing as the first time without having to worry about the adhesive?I did basically the same thing that this guy did, the only difference is that I have stainless steel instead of mild steel. via /r/DIY http://bit.ly/2TeoZ39
