We just moved to a colder state from the desert- read: we have literally never paid for heat. Even in Arizona, in the middle of summer our electric bill never went over ~170 (and that was only when it was 120 degrees out).
We our renting an ollllld house. It’s about 860 square feet. NO gas in this house - only electric.
We only have baseboard heaters and they don’t even have a thermostat. This was our first month here so we just blindly guessed.
Our first electric bill... $290. I almost shit my pants. I called the electric company and confirmed that no, that wasn’t a mistake.
I immediately have turned our base heaters down an almost uncomfortable amount, but what else can I possibly do to cut our electric costs?? I am genuinely upset about this cost.
