Hi guys,
My landlord sent me and my wife a letter this week that explains she is the property owner (we've never met) and that she has cancelled her contract with (rhymes with boldwell tanker). They were extremely difficult to work with, and she stated that she was unhappy with their services. She did state she would happily resign our lease (this will be our fourth year), as she believes we have been excellent tennants.
She says we should get our deposit back from the property management company. She stated she would not change rent if we signed a new lease, but that'd we have to pay a deposit again. This could be done, but the idea of pulling $1600 (rent and deposit) out of thin air to pay is a concern.
I want to make sure my wife and I won't be screwed on this, as the last time I had a landlord who was not corporate, it did not end well.
What steps should I take, and are there any precautions I should use moving forward?
