It started in July of last year. Filed for divorce, no money to pay for it really. After consultation with lawyer. He said it seemed like a complicated situation so $10,000 was needed. Joint account had $3000 total. And my checks were still being deposited into it. Circumstances made me put divorce on CC. My wife had an emergency (family) out of town, she had been staying at our summer home.

Said she needed our economy car to run to big city. "Sure. I fueled it up this morning in fact" she stated she was flustered and couldn't find her keys for it and if I would leave mine on the dash. "No problem" Never saw the car again.

I have an older Nissan pickup, tires had side wall cracks. Bad shape. I drive about 70 miles round trip to work. Have a carpool, 100 degree temps in July. Dangerous, had to put new tires on again on CC. All of a sudden I have close to $12,000 in cc debt.

Finally opened my new checking account, put half of joint in and started direct depositing my paychecks into it.

I had only $1500 and was scared. Week after week checks deposited. Was living lean on a loaf of bread peanut butter and jelly. Canned beans and tortillas. Maybe $4 to 5 a day on food at most.

Kept money going into account. Finally I had quite a big sum like $3500 so I pay $500 to CC. Next month bill for CC comes and I am charged like $270 in interest. I got pissed, started paying more and more to it. 4 months later CC is paid off.

All this time still living lean, never eat out and take great care of myself and my truck.

After paying off CC 2 months ago, I now have $15,000 in bank. Another $2000 grand from sale of motorcycle and ring to my now ex.

These were superficial to me but important to her. Motorcycle is 45 years old hasn't ran and has been in garage for 20 + yrs.

I have a bonus from work for another $1000 I expect to receive about half of lawyer money back. I hope. And next week's check will be about $1700 net.

So that will be about $19,000+ by next week. Did not count any money I may receive from lawyer, well because they are lawyers.

Been working a lot of overtime so each week another $1700 in bank account.

Had it not been for my wife being vindictive and leaving me without any funds and in a bad way auto wise. Who knows how could have been?

I had considered buying a new truck as mine was old paint coming off top. But it has no payment, liability coverage only. I take better care of it now than I ever did.

I still eat at home, still like $20 grocery bill twice a week. Just got into the habit and knowing how expensive eating out can be.

So next week I will have around $20K in bank That's after I paid off $12K in CC. Have to get a loan to buy wife out of house. House was paid for. Credit score is over 800. So 6 months after filing things look pretty positive. I think so anyway
