This is sad to post, but I am a dog lover and usually have 4 or 5 dogs, all rescues. My beloved standard poodle was acting off the day after Thanksgiving. When I took her to the vet, he had terrible news. It seems she had cancer of a very aggressive variety. One of her tumors ruptured and she was about to die. She was swimming in the pool on Thanksgiving here in Florida, having a great time. The next day, we had to put her down.
Of course I didn't ask the price but was shocked to see a $475 bill for medicine for euthanasia and mass cremation.
Fast forward 6 weeks and I have another standard poodle, age 14 who is not doing well. He dislocated his hip 7 months ago and is losing bladder and bowel control. He also can't get up without assistance. I see his days are numbered, so I called a different vet, one block away from the first vet, and asked about the cost for euthanasia and mass cremation. For a 60 pound dog, they charge $150. I know the time is coming soon, but at least I have my ducks in a row this time.
I'm going to hug my old poodle boy now.
