we all grow up with dreams and aspirations to BE someone. maybe the next bill gates. or elon musk. someone rich. someone famous. maybe an actor. someone that matters. then life gets in the way. we go to school, we do everything right. we graduate. we work jobs we hate to pay the bills, living for to the weekend. we want to travel and see the world, but we only have a 2 week vacation every year. we had kids and a mortgage, which is satisfying in it's own right. there is a certain joy to seeing your kids experience all the things you enjoyed when you were a kid, and owning a house is something you can take pride in, but basically we need to work the next 30-40 years to pay it off and support the kids well into adulthood (college and maybe grad school). we hope we can do everything we ever wanted once we are retired and have a nice retirement fund..that is when we can finally be HAPPY. but the reality is most don't due to an unforeseen economic downturn, family tragedy, or just inflation kicking in.(30 years ago, $100,000 was enough to retire on..now even $1 million may not be enough to retire comfortably)...and by then we are old and grey and tired, and just want to sleep. we forget any dreams we ever had. then our health fails us, and we need to sell the house we bought to pay for our medical bills. as for the kids we raised? they don't see us anymore because they are half way across the country with their own kids to support, and we don't want to feel like a burden to them. basically, life is meaningless. family may be the greatest legacy u have, but think: how often do you see your parents? how often do you see your grandparents? do you even know who your great-grandparents were?
