So a big reason people get a house is to raise a family, however, I won't be having kids. The only advantage I see is I like to host get-togethers so the space would be nice.

I grew up in apartments all my life. Mowing the lawn and house upkeep doesn't sound that fun to me.

I'm about a year away from having enough to make 20 percent payment on some nice houses, but I'm thinking of just investing that instead for 30 years, the equivalent of a mortgage term. 31 so I'm thinking if I were to get one, the next few years would be the ideal time. Only debt is 10k on a car. Contributing to my 401k and saving regularly.

Are there any benefits of homeownership I might not be thinking of?
