I'm 23 years old. Finished HS some time ago. Haven't completed any college.. yet. Been job-hopping for the past couple years. Been working at this warehouse and I'm thinking big. Looking for something that aligns best with my ultimate passion: being in the heart of forests and mountains, taking care of Nature or sharing the love for Nature with others.
I have been with my partner for three years and we're trying to map out our long-term paths in life. We want to live together somewhere peaceful and work good jobs that align with our passions. I've found that many jobs out in Nature and the Wilderness are very demanding of your time and require being away from home for a few weeks at a time. I'd prefer more of a work/life balance because I'd like to be at house taking care of my future family and garden. I'm willing to work overtime and such, but I'd like to be back at my home by the end of the day.
I've thought about working as a forester, arborist, conservation technician, park ranger, and hell I've thought about homesteading a bit. I just want to have a home/cabin (possibly build one in the next decade or so: another dream my sweetheart and I share) near the forests, mountains, or lakes; and I want some kind of fulfilling work that won't have me inside a warehouse or office. I enjoy hiking, camping, and soon I want to pursue mountaineering if that helps. I understand that whatever path that will take me there is going to be utterly toilsome and painful...I'm certain that it will be hell going through... but if that's what it takes, I'm willing to give it my absolute all.
Any sort of direction and guidance you can provide me with is much appreciated.
