So I woke up this morning to find my heat was not working. I wasn’t totally sure until my wife texted me that it was 65 degrees in the house while I was in the middle of doing my medical industry thing trying to fix a patients heart. Clearly it was a bad time and I was stressed. I finished my case and went home to see what was up. The furnace kicked on as far as the inducer motor, but the burners were not igniting and the blower was blowing cool air. I did online research and ruled it down to the hot surface ignitor, which was one of the most popular issues with gas furnaces. So I watched a few YouTube videos about hot surface ignitors and then looked up the part for my specific furnace. I had a buddy call in to order the part (local supply stores won’t sell unless you are a contractor) and headed home with hopes of heat. The ignitor was easily accessible and I just had to splice the wires from the old ignitor to the new one and in 5 minutes I had heat. Crisis narrowly averted. via /r/DIY http://bit.ly/2HHZ4zk
