My wife and I recently moved into a 1920s craftsman house and we are attempting to remodel our bedroom closet. For whatever reason, the closet has several layers of wallpaper inside (yes, inside the closet!) that had been painted over. After 10+ hours of scraping with warm water and some vinegar, we've gotten to the bare plaster, which has a large amount of cracks. Some are small, but many are rather large and/or bulging from the lathe. The following album has some examples of what we're dealing with: http://bit.ly/2LTj0h6 by no means handy, but after some online research, I take it some joint compound could help many of these? Do some require special glue and rings (like this example video)? We're mostly worried about what issues are merely cosmetic (and are easily primed/painted over) and which may threaten the structural integrity of the wall itself. We're looking to install this style of tracks on the back wall for adjustable shelving, should it matter. via /r/DIY http://bit.ly/2FguEkR
