Sorry if this seems like an obvious question but, I bought a cheap shelf from IKEA and the brackets. It weights about 20lbs and I don't plan on putting anything extremely heavy on it. It will be in a craft/sewing room. The shelf was easy to build, but the brackets didn't come with any instructions or screws. I have plaster walls and I've definitely located the studs (after a ton of trial and error). But I still don't know what I'm doing. My plan currently, is to use #10 X 3" construction screws I got from home depot and drill pilot holes with a 1/8" bit. (when I asked in the store, they told me to use plastic anchors for hollow walls and I don't think that's going to work)So my question is, does this sound correct?I'm worried the screws are too long (I measured 3/4" depth from plaster to stud). & Any other tips you might have would be appreciated. via /r/DIY http://bit.ly/2AB6r5C
