Some background: I will be moving out-of-state to work for a company for about 9 months or so. I will have 1 addition roommate who will also have to buy his furniture as well. I will be making about ~60k a year(if I was working there a year). My employer has offered about 2k to pay for some moving expenses. My roommate and I will be sharing 1 car which is a crossover SUV. Rent will cost about 2500 with utilities. If we rent through CORT, it would cost us about 200 a month (so 100$ per person for 9 months), it would be fully furnished (2 queen beds, dining table set, sofa, chair, nightstands).
I'm trying to figure out if its worth it to buy my own funiture and just throw/give it away at the end(shipping it back home is not possible) or to rent funiture through a service like CORT Furniture Rental.
I know stores like Walmart and Target have good prices, but I'm wondering if it's even worth the hassle of buying funiture for 9 months, just to throw it away. I would also have to figure out how to transport all the furniture once I leave to where ever I can throw/sell.
