Hi there,

We had a child in December, and when updating coverage elected $5000 dependent care FSA (my wife planned to return to work).

However, where I live, childcare providers have all basically stated "good luck, 20-30 people on the wait list and the first spot for those people opens in October". Essentially, wife is not going to be able to return to work and will have to stay home. She's currently out on FMLA, but when that expires, her job is gone, which is fine, but unfortunately, she was on my insurance, so will not experience a "loss of coverage" qualifying event.

Is there any other way to stop the dependent care FSA deductions? It's not "prefunded" like healthcare FSAs. Or did I give my employer a free $5000?
