I am a college student living at home with my parents. Because of their generosity, I have been able to save plenty of money for needed expenses. I was able to buy and pay off a $15,000, 2016 car in less than a year. On top of that, now I have my savings back up to $5,000 and plenty of money in my checking account to pay my other bills and not live paycheck to paycheck.

My coworkers and I are all very open with eachother on how we are doing financially. And they constantly give my shit about not ever spending my money, or how I will die with millions of dollars in my account but nothing to show for it. I just brush it off because I know that the time will come for my student loans and I will be financially hurting for a few years.

It's all about the long game. Just because you have money, doesn't mean you need to spend it. And if someone tries to make you feel bad for saving your money instead of spending it to have "fun", just remember that they could be feeling jealous that their circumstances are not as fortunate as yours.
