I was in the market for an everyday comfortable and waterproof boot so I bought a pair of factory-second Blundstones on Sierra Trading Post for $70 instead of their usual $180, which was a steal. As far as I can tell, the only imperfection on them are some scuffs on the outside rubber sole. The people who I know who have them SWEAR by them and say they are the most comfortable shoes they own (albeit, not exactly the most fashionable). I am in Boston so wanted something that I can throw on with jeans and wear on slushy streets without freezing my toes off. (Ps: I have LL Bean boots and they do not work for me at all! I find my feet get FREEZING and wet whenever I wear them in the cold.)
However, the ones I purchased are really tight on the top of the foot. They are actually probably too large for me lengthwise, but the top of the shoe really presses down on the top of my foot. I know they are made of leather and should probably stretch, but I am unsure how much give they actually have. I had my boyfriend try to squeeze his foot into one to see if they would stretch a bit and they definitely did, but not quite enough. I am wondering if it makes sense to keep them and power through a few wears so they can reach their potential or if I am just being too eager about finding Blundstones for $70 that I'll never actually wear because they will forever be uncomfortable. So, did your Blundstones suck at first and now you love them? Or am I being too hopeful?
