I'm in a field job so I'm driving or working the whole 8hrs no breaks no office snacks no AC/Heat comfort. But I work about 38-42 hours including commute + I get mileage so I'm "paid" to commute. Hours will likely go up during the construction busy season
On the other hand, Desk job would be 8-5 + commute so about 50hrs total. But several hours a day there's nothing to do so I could check my email/reddit/browse and get all that time back that I spend doing it at home after work. But I know the feeling of sitting in a desk and appearing busy is frustrating when you're done with work and could go home.
ideally I'd have a 30hr job that still has benefits and health insurance even with lower pay
