How do I let myself spend the money? How do you decide it’s worth it?

Planning a kitchen remodel. I’d say we spend 40% of our time in the kitchen. Sometimes will turn down free restaurant meals because I’ll get better taste and value from what I can cook. So it’ll get years of use. Potentially not our final home but darn close.

I know most basic ranges, fridges will do. What we have is totally okay. But I dream of a gourmet kitchen. A gas stove I can grill and char my aromatics. Rise and bake breads with soft interiors and crumbly crunchy exteriors. Yogurts ans ice creams of all flavors. And it will no longer be a hodgepodge mix and multiple part diy projects from previous owners.

But I want: To route a new gas line A wolf/Viking 36 or 48 inch dual fuel range A built in sub-zero panel fridge A steam oven New nice cabinets and island configuration.

Gaaaahhhh that’s more than most peoples budgets and I haven’t even looked at cabinets.

What has convinced you to break into luxury, pro level things? When do you find it worth it? To me frugal isn’t about being cheap but more saving and making good use of your money. My mom got me a high end designer label purse which I promptly returned and gave her money back as I don’t find value in just a brand. Found a nice quality leather bag for 1/20th the price. I wear clothes that are 20 years old because they fit and function. I don’t buy things in special colors because the plain one is functionally identical. But when it comes to the kitchen, I’m a hot mess.
