I bought a pair of Common Projects Achilles Low Suede in Grey from Neiman Marcus (NM) during cyber monday sale. I read reviews online mentioning about numerous terrible purchase experiences with NM. I still pulled the trigger as the price was ok (approx $250) and hoped that I wouldn't face problems like what others had.
The order wasn't updated for a 3 days and I was very excited about my purchase, so I decided to contact NM. I didn't call them because I'm not in the States so I tried contacting them via email and their online chat. Unsurprisingly I didn't receive any email replies. As for the online chat, it was forever "No associates are currently available. Please call for immediate service." - again can't reach them at all (just tried, still doesn't work). 4 days later after order confirmed, it finally shipped.
After 4 days of anticipation..

Scruffy suede, ugly creases on the side, dirty outsole, abrasive marks, price tag stapled onto the outsole... My guess is that it was a display item but was never stated on the website. I would've definitely passed had I known it's a display. From my friends' CP experiences, I highly doubt this is what Common Projects' QC is, my pair from NM is definitely way below their standard.
I'll definitely send an email to NM about my rather disappointed. Again, I wouldn't expect a reply since they never did. Just tried online chat again, no hope. I guess now I'm left with no choice but to make an IDD (and possibly being pushed around on the phone ending up with nothing..) and ask for a refund or else I'll have to stick to pair I received.
In any case, if returning the shoes isn't really a viable option because NM's terrible customer service.. any advice on how I can treat the suede and abrasive marks? I'm no expert in shoe 'repair', probably even worse than a rookie.
TLDR: Bought a pair of Common Projects Achilles Low Suede in Grey from Neiman Marcus online store during cyber monday sale. Poor customer service for international online purchases (not sure for domestic). Received a semi-used/display pair of shoes (never mentioned as display item on the website!). I strongly recommend you to not purchase from Neiman Marcus online stores (or other lines) regardless of how much discount you get off retail.
Just in case any of you are interested in sizing, just go 1 full size down from your TTS. I wear 41.5 for my Greats Royale, and order 41(IT) for the Common Projects - fits fine. I also wear 42 in Nike Free Run and Pegasus 35 if that helps.
