Hey All,I apologize in advance if this isn't the correct sub for this post but I'm trying to figure out whats going on underneath our super dated vinyl kitchen flooring. As much I just want to start ripping it up, I'm not sure the wife feels the same so I was hoping you guys might be able to help a bit.I took a peak in a few different spots on the floor and am trying to gauge what my subfloor is like. Here is a pic from a heat duct in the floor.https://ift.tt/2zOWlOf dont know much about houses/floors but from what I can tell, its vinyl top layer, underlayment (plywood?) followed by 3/4" subfloor (not sure wood type) and then another 3/4" subfloor? Not sure if its common to see two layers like that or maybe (more likely) thats something else that I don't know about.I guess my question is this, is it normal to have multiple layers of subfloor like that? If I'm looking to replace the floors, would I keep both subfloor layers and just remove the vinyl and underlayment? For reference, the house was built in 1923 and is sort of a 1 story craftsman bungalow.Thank you all! via /r/DIY https://ift.tt/2L1jamj
