I work from home, so I have the luxury to control the environment and wear whatever I want. I spend 95% of the day in my home office, so I don't want to crank up the central heat (natural gas) to warm up the rest of the house which is empty until my wife comes back at 5:30pm. I've programmed the thermostat to 62 during the day, but I find myself increasing it to 66-68 quite often.
I narrowed down my options to the these 3:
- Electric space heater. Pros: It will keep my office nice and toasty and I can move it to a different room as needed. Cons: Electricity is not cheap, it only heats up a room at a time.
- Thermal underwear. Pros: I can wear it anywhere. Cons: It won't keep my hands warm.
- Adult onesie. Pros: It will keep me warm anywhere in the house. Cons: It won't keep my hands warm and I'm not planning on wearing anywhere else.
How do you stay warm while at home? Have you tried any (or all) of the above and what worked best for you? Any other ideas?
Just to add: I'm already having hot beverages throughout the day, use a rice bag that I put on my back, wear layers, a beanie.
