This may sound dumb, but at what point would it be considered ok to upgrade homes based off of desire instead of necessity?
Basically, I have the ability to pay off my current home within the next 11-17 months. Or I could sell my house and use any money as a down payment on a different one. My house isn’t a great place for gatherings. I’d love to have a house with a pool and more space for entertaining.
I’m single, under 30, have no kids and make a stable income. I have no debts other than my mortgage so it seems like a good idea, but I also only have myself to convince one way or another, so I’m looking for outside help. Is it foolish to upgrade just because I want to? A different house would give me the same things I have as far as a place to sleep, eat and store my things, but it would also upgrade my standard of living in a way.
If I’m in the wrong place for this, please let me know. Thanks in advance.
