One way to make sure you aren't getting too much federal tax withheld from your paycheck is to update your W4 Form to reflect any major life events like a change in marital status or welcoming a new child into the family.
Claiming fewer allowances means you are essentially giving the government an interest free loan. Getting that tax refund in April is pretty sweet until you realize you could have had that money working for you all year.
