Hi guys. This is embarrassing but I really don't know what I'm doing wrong and I have given up. I always run into problems when trying to install basic things such as mounting a TV - I also lack understanding of the basics of house construction (drywall vs wood panels vs concrete) so that may play a role in why I'm having so much difficulty.I'm trying to install inside-mount Levolor wood blinds. I fail at the very first step - getting the side brackets installed on the sides of the windows. The instructions say to use a 1/16 drill bit (seems too small for the screws, but what do I know) to drill a prehole, and then put the screw in after that.I run into two problems:1) On some of the holes (there are four holes on the mounting bracket, and it says to put screws in at least two of those holes to hold it up), I can't even get the drill bit all the way down. It's like I've hit concrete or something. As a result of me trying to force it, the drill bit snapped and is now in the wall.2) Even in another hole when I was able to get the drill bit all the way down and can force the screw all the way down, it gets down but the screw doesn't have good bite, so when it's almost all the way in I can't get it to catch or lock, so it's not truly holding the bracket in place fixed hard to the wall, and if I turn the screw at all it gives out and just keeps turning and has no bite. Can you please help me. One last problem I run into is that when drilling the holes for the top holes of the mounting bracket, my actual drill is too big so it's hitting the top part of the window so I can not make a parallel hole and kind of have to do it at an angle, because my drill is too big and hits the top part of the window if I try to do a parallel hole. via /r/DIY https://ift.tt/2SDUO4K
