So my moms car had a check engine light and her mechanic said to bring it to a dealer as he tried some things and couldn’t figure it out. So she drops it off and they say it’s gonna be $700 to clean a fuel injector which is ridiculous and she can’t afford that. So they say we can do $400 which was cool I guess. Not 2 days later the light comes back on and it turns out the cylinder head blew from the one they cleaned the injector. So it gets towed back to them and they keep it for 5 days without calling her. She finally calls them and they say to call back the next day. So the next day they say it’s gonna be $4000 to fix it which she obviously can’t afford and it’s not even worth it. So they say she has to pay $700 in labor for all the stuff they did just to get her car back and take it to the junkyard. They also took her motor apart and put the parts in a box instead of replacing them and took the wheels off so she can’t get it towed out. It just feels like she’s getting fleeced for $1100 bucks for them to do literally nothing and I’m not sure what her options are. Any ideas?
Update: Just got a call from a mechanic there and he wants to buy the car from her once she pays the bill
