I've searched on here and google which lead me to water hammer but a lot posts mention when they do something the rumbling happens. Heres my problem. The pipes do it randomly on me. It can be 1-5 times a day. One quick rattle or one long thump that's loud. It can go 2 days(I work from home) without doing anything. I can flush the toilet 10 times and it maybe rumbles once. Sometimes the rumble is 1 second, others it can be 10 seconds. No new appliances or repairs lately. The only thing I remember is 3 months ago they replaced water line/hydrant out side and shut my water off two days in a row. I've lived in this house 30 years and never heard this until after they did that.I guess I'll try turning off the water and draining the pipes first but anything after that before just hiring a plumber? via /r/DIY http://bit.ly/2SgJueZ
