So I’ve never really been one to make resolutions for the new year but for 2019 I want to become more frugal.
I have my utilities as low as I can right now. But I am trying to get some hopefully better quotes for car insurance.
My closest friends are married and live pretty wealthy lifestyles. They like to travel and eat out a lot. This was probably the hardest obstacle for me to wrap my head around. Because I want to save money but I don’t want to sacrifice traveling and spending time with friends.
But this is what I came up with: doing more of the free adventures, mainly hiking, and the low cost one day road trips. I also only intend to plan one big trip with my friends and one big trip with my family. As far as eating out I want to set aside some money for one meal out a month but I think me and my friends would enjoy home cooked meals to share together better.
The main reason I’m posting here is for my grocery budget. I plan to set aside $75 every two weeks for groceries. Is that reasonable? I mainly shop at aldis and will go to a local grocery store if needed. It is just me, two dogs, two cats, and two hermit crabs. I’m pretty good at meal prep so I think I have my food groceries figured out so my main concern is the toiletries and the pet food.
Any neat tips for detergents, shampoos, and pet food? Any advice will be welcomed!
