Hiya DIY,I've been doing a bunch of work on my car and I feel a little uncomfortable getting under it on jack stands without a tire or something similar layed out along the sides for support in case a jack stand slips or fails. It's not my garage, so I can't install a hydraulic jack or anything semi or actually permanent. My solution was to try to make something like a 'raceramp'. Their FAQ says that raceramps are made from EPS foam with a hybrid polyurea coating on them. Alternatively, I could buy 2 used tires and just put them under the car, except I'd have to store them in my apartment and, unless they're on your car, tires often are bulky, ugly and smelly.I ordered 2 blocks (1 cubic foot each) of 1.5 density EPS and would like to coat them with hybrid polyurea or something like it.two questions:1) what to use for this application (basically 2 blocks of EPS foam stopping a car from crushing someone under it, without smushing the foam block too much). OR I could just use the naked block as a one-time preventing-death device? From internet research which I've now forgotten, 1.5 density EPS foam should hold up a car.2) if poly urea is a good option, where to get it cheap and in a dippable or paintable form. I don't have a spray gun - or room in which to use one if I had. edit, well ok I could do this outside but the buckets of spray polyuera tend to cost hundreds of dollars - I'd like to spend less than a 50 or 100 on the coating.Ideas? via /r/DIY https://ift.tt/2RLPw7d
